Wet Roads in The Highlands

Greetings,

A few weeks ago Nicole Frens mentioned Prospect being closed.

As the warmer weather sets in, more roads like Prospect are popping up. Prospect is closed because a spring has popped in the middle of the roadway. The earth/dirt is so soft and saturated that driving through it would not be good for your car or the road.

Grande has a spring in the roadway near Grande and Calaveras, that area is being monitored. YellowJacket also has a spring in the roadway close to the low spot near Loftis Road. There also seems to be something brewing on/under Cartwright near the intersection of Dortort.

Keep an eye out for wet spots on the roadways and if you notice they aren’t drying out, please shoot me a message so it can be monitored. The roads are currently being worked on and inspected but these springs can pop up at any time and may not have been present when the roads were worked on or inspected.

Monitoring these springs is essential to minimizing damage to our roads. In some cases, these springs can dealt with and the road can stay open. Prospect is an extreme case which is why the road has remained closed.

Sincerely,
Jay ( Julian ) Carmona
