In April we wrote about the Recall Election and how it might prove to be a turning point in Storey County politics. A specific point we could point to when the people finally getting fed up with the thinly veiled attacks from County Commissioner Lance Gilman against Sheriff Antinoro. We suggested while the pivot point had taken place, it would take effort and time for that change to transform Storey County politics in a more meaningful way.
On Tuesday, June 12th, the voters of Storey County took another step in the right direction. By voting down challenger Mike Cullen, the people of Storey County told Lance Gilman and Don Norman they should stick to Blockchains and TRIC and leave the Sheriff alone for keeps and stop trying to manipulate us.
The Bad The Ugly And The Disgusting
Last week we wrote about the history behind the campaign waged by Lance Gilman against Gerald Antinoro. The onslaught of attacks that came from Gilman’s cabal was remarkable on several fronts:
- The venom and volume of attacks posted on the Highlands chat group and Facebook
- The accusations – some with facts, most without
- Homage to the Saul Alinsky playbook – Deny, Deflect, Discredit
- The fact that as proclaimed Republicans, they snuggled up with Vegas Democrats to throw Adam Laxalt under the bus
You can read the relentless vitriol pushed by Lance Gilman’s proxy, employee, and bunkmate Kris Thompson to the VCH Message Board (in just 7 days!) here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here.
Erstwhile ace reporter and present-day rail-faller-offer Karen Woodmansee was just as eloquent with her own seven-day angry-bird spree. You can read her newfound writing style here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here.
Ugh.
It Gets Better
The defeat of Commissioner Jack McGuffey represents a fresh step in a new direction. The tray tables are being secured to the seats in front of Storey County citizens. We are about to land in a place where the interests of a few are no longer procured at the expense of the many.
Dude. Finally.
We’ve taken the first step; the next step is healing. We must now take it upon ourselves to heal. Being able to put the venom back into the fangs and put the fangs on the furthest back shelf is what we need to do as a community. Only with acceptance and tolerance of the differing opinions of our neighbors can we begin to work together to form a more perfect community.
I have faith in everyone to do just that.
November Zephyrs Will Blow Some Change Around This Dusty Mining Camp
In November, voters will decide whose fanny will park next to Commissioner Gilman and Commissioner McBride. We finally have a choice between two “outsiders”. While Nicole Barde and Jay Carmona are not outsiders in our community, they are outside the inner circle of the hobGOBlins.
Over the course of the next five months, we need to decide which candidate has the vision to move forward, has the experience to know which way forward is, and has the wisdom, strength and resolve to get ‘er done.
Dude. Finally.
Keep on, y’all. Kudos ST.
Thank you for your kind words, Cashion.
Another great update. Thanks. PS – There is nothing you nor I can say about
the TRIC-turner bosses girl-molesting human trafficking that can be rude
enough to properly describe their wanton taxpayer-funded evil.
