Storey County Commission Meeting, May 15th

Pat Whitten’s PR team tells the Team Storey story about the Commissioner Meeting in perfunctory (non)detail.

Thankfully, Nicole Barde penned a predictably in-depth and detailed account (with context) of the recent County Commissioners meeting. While I find the budget quite interesting, the cure for insomnia can always be found in a Mike Nevin powerpoint presentation providing updates on the progress of the sewer system install.

As usual, Nicole and I were the only people not paid by the county to be there for the last half of the meeting. It’s not that people don’t care, it’s that they have jobs and lives to conduct.

Lucky for us Nicole takes notes, listens to the audio so to provide insight and commentary to give you, gentle reader, a picture of what’s really going on at these sausage festivals.

Commissioner McBride chose the unwise path of calling me a liar (presumably) for talking trash about the lack of funds from the record $1.6 billion in taxable sales and the tentative budget last week. This week the chickens came home to roost on a crow for McBride to snack on. In the meeting on the 15th, we learned that the budget will change very little from the tentative budget I “lied” about here. According to Comptroller Gallagher, the FY 2018-2019 budget will be in the red even when/if the good ship Teslapop shines its electric light of financial salvation on our harbor.

It looks like Jack McGuffey’s empty promise of Tax Cuts and swimming pools full of cash in every backyard will just have to wait for the next election cycle.

The November election can’t come soon enough…

TESLA IS STILL A NO SHOW FOR THE SERVICES AGREEMENT AND THE BUDGET IS STILL $1.7 MILLION OVER.

NO PROPERTY TAX RELIEF UNTIL 2024 OR UNTIL WHEN WE’RE ALL DEAD

THERE IS NO “OPIOID CRISIS” IN STOREY COUNTY……THE REPORT IS WRONG!

AND…………………

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU MARSHALL:

A MAN WHO HAS COMMITTED A MISTAKE AND DOESN’T CORRECT IT IS COMMITTING ANOTHER MISTAKE”

….CONFUCIUS
