Spring Forward

Storey County 2018 – Spring Forward or Fall Back?

Daylight savings time happened this past Sunday morning. As we settle into the new rigors of this nonsensical government mandated time/space continuum adjustment of the days getting darker earlier, I can’t help thinking about what things will look like for Storey County and Nevada a year from now.

When we set our clocks back this time next year, our political landscape may be (vastly) different from the one we navigate today. Will it be better, with sober public service-minded public servants leading us? Or will we be saddled with elected officials whose interests serve themselves and their cronies over of We The People?

Only time will tell.

One thing is certain; the incumbents all have a leg up in terms of name recognition and our exposure to their job performance. Given that over 90% of incumbents are reelected, they all have a pretty good chance of representing us for another 4 years. In terms of job performance, what kind of job have they done during their term?

As a voter, the single most important question I ask myself in selecting a candidate is how will (or have) they performed in the past and what can I expect from them in the future. Bluntly, did they place the interests of all the citizens of Storey County ahead of self or special interests?

In the coming year, The Teller will be providing analysis, commentary, interviews and other insight on the people who are asking us to employ them both at the here in Storey County and for Nevada at the state or federal level.

We will provide this information to help improve Storey County so that together we can enjoy a forward looking political landscape by selecting folks who have proven track records of putting the people first and replacing those who don’t.

Stay Tuned…
