Stand Against Corruption Part Three – A Letter to the Editor From Sheriff Antinoro

By Sheriff Gerald Antinoro

For those following the recall, here’s an update. Today I was contacted by a local reporter and asked about my ads and signs that say “stand against corruption.” I was asked why I felt there was corruption involved in the recall effort. To that, first I offer the definition of the word:

Corruption – dishonest or illegal behavior especially by powerful people, often to acquire personal benefit. Corruption may include many activities including bribery and embezzlement, though it may also involve practices that are legal in many countries. Government, or ‘political’, corruption occurs when an office-holder or other governmental employee acts in an official capacity for personal gain.

So first off, the people leading the recall effort. They are some of the most “powerful” people in the county since they are behind the big developments. They file lawsuits against me for doing the job the people elected me to do when those actions happen to be against their personal interests. They fabricate information, misrepresent the facts, and bastardize the legal system endeavoring to remove me from office and silence the voice of the people who elected me to office – twice. Its smells like corruption to me. And regardless of their claims of noninvolvement, the recall mouthpiece has repeatedly said these developers are funding the effort and put their names out there in writing.

I was recently referred to as “Teflon” by at least one detractor – a childish reference that nothing sticks to me. Nothing sticks because they have nothing except their manufactured and false claims. Then there are county employees. This is not all inclusive as there are many great county employees here who are just trying to get by. But there are some who know the truth and for whatever reason, refuse to speak it. Some actively fabricate their claims or position; others just spinelessly sit by when they know and are in positions to speak the truth. – again, it smells like corruption – giving into the big money special interests.

The same reporter made inquiry into a recent death in the county claiming to have information it was not of natural causes. Is this one more stab at trying to reinforce the bogus claims of the recall people? Let’s just see what comes next.
